Visual research
As my theme is Hortus Botanicus, I began by looking at birds and flowers, as these are subjects relevant to the theme of nature. Initially I prefer drawing birds because of the different positions that they move into, which are quite interesting to draw.

Slow Hand
This studio and workshop based project is a paper-based response within the context of Artist's books and Wall coverings, focusing on paper as a substrate for design and print. The module is inspired by the philosophies of the Arts and Crafts movement that encompass beautiful materials and craftsmanship, and the emphasis throughout the module is considered slow craftsmanship.
During the course of this module, I will undertake workshops in Bookbinding, Lino print, Embossing, and Screen Print exploring a 2-colour separation and design repeat. I will take elements from the workshops and apply them to develop a folio of beautiful drawing and printed/engineered papers that will then be reviewed and edited to be put into production as 1) an Artists book; 2) a Wall Covering.
Focus: Hortus Botanicus: reflecting the philosophies of William Morris, taking nature as my inspiration, I will be observing and drawing flora and fauna, and natural phenomena.
